[03-18-2026] San Diego County, CA – Multi-Vehicle Crash Causes Lane Closures on I-805 in Chula Vista

A multi-vehicle crash on southbound Interstate 805 in Chula Vista caused lane closures and a diesel spill on Wednesday morning, March 18, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash was reported at around 5:30 a.m. just north of Telegraph Canyon Road.

At least three vehicles were involved, including a big rig. One vehicle was found sideways in the traffic lanes, and a punctured fuel tank caused a diesel spill in the roadway.

The two right lanes were temporarily closed for the response, but have since been reopened.

No further details, including information about injuries, were immediately available.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
