[03-08-2026] San Luis Obispo County, CA – Motorcyclist Killed in Crash with Sedan on Highway 46 East of Geneseo Rd.

A motorcyclist was killed in a crash with a Sedan in northern San Luis Obispo County late Sunday night, March 8, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, officers responded to the collision at 9:32 p.m. on eastbound Highway 46, just east of Geneseo Road.

Authorities stated that a 47-year-old Russell P. of Visalia was riding a 2024 Harley-Davidson at a high rate of speed when the front of his motorcycle struck the back of a 2019 Toyota Corolla driven by 21-year-old Antonio H. of Shandon. 

Officials said that the driver of the Sedan was travelling ahead of the motorcyclist at speeds over 65 mph. The impact caused the sedan to travel out of control, veering into the westbound lanes of Highway 46 before resting on the right shoulder. 

The rider was ejected from his motorcycle and sustained fatal injuries. None of the four people in the sedan was injured in the crash.

CHP officials said it is still unknown whether drugs or alcohol were factors in the collision.

The CHP’s Templeton office is handling the investigation, which remains ongoing.
