A woman was killed, and four other people were hospitalized following a crash in Merced County on Thursday morning, February 5, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred at around 8:30 a.m. at the intersection of Oakdale Road and Fisher Road.
Officers said a 21-year-old woman was driving an SUV on Oakdale Road and attempted to pass another vehicle.
CHP stated that the driver of a Chevy Suburban traveling in the opposite direction saw the woman’s headlights too late, resulting in a head-on collision. The 21-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman’s identity has not been released.
The driver of the Chevy Suburban and three children inside the vehicle were transported to hospitals for treatment. Authorities said early-morning fog was a contributing factor in the crash.
The investigation remains ongoing.
