[01-13-2026] San Diego County, CA – Motorcyclist Killed in Crash with Sedan on Montiel Rd. in Escondido

A 23-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a crash involving a sedan on Montiel Road near Auto Park Way on the western edge of Escondido, Tuesday evening, January 13, 2026.

According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred around 5:26 p.m. near the junction of Interstate 15 and Highway 78. 

First responders arrived at the scene and located the motorcyclist unresponsive in the westbound lane of Montiel Road. Despite emergency medical efforts, the rider was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the sedan remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Authorities have yet to determine whether drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
