[01-12-2026] Woman Killed After Being Struck by Vehicle on South Union Ave. in Bakersfield.webpA 25-year-old woman was killed after being struck by a vehicle on South Union Avenue in Bakersfield, early Monday morning, January 12, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, officers responded to a crash involving a pedestrian and a vehicle in the 5300 block of South Union Avenue, south of Calle De Oro, around 6:17 a.m. 

CHP said a preliminary investigation found that a 68-year-old man was driving a 2012 Toyota Yaris southbound when the woman, who was outside of a crosswalk, entered the roadway and walked directly into the path of the Toyota.

The Toyota struck the pedestrian, causing severe injuries. Emergency medical personnel responded and pronounced the woman dead at the scene.

CHP said the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. At this time, it is unknown whether alcohol and/or drugs were factors in the crash.

The investigation is ongoing.
