According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash was reported around 4:03 p.m. on the northbound Interstate 15 near California Oaks Road and Kalmia Street.

CHP radio traffic indicated that the motorcyclist was lane splitting prior to the collision. Authorities said the rider went down in the center divider, and a white sedan involved in the crash pulled over nearby.

The Murrieta Fire Department responded to the scene. CHP reported that the motorcyclist was transported by emergency medical services with minor injuries, though the extent of the injuries was not immediately known.

The investigation is ongoing.
