[01-06-2026] One Killed, Another Injured in Head-On Crash on Sierra Highway Near Santa Clarita.webpOne person was killed, and another was hospitalized following a head-on crash on Sierra Highway north of Santa Clarita on Tuesday evening, January 6, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred around 6:20 p.m. at Sierra Highway and Anthony Road, where a sedan and an SUV collided, blocking traffic lanes. 

Authorities were notified that one person was trapped inside a vehicle, and firefighters with the Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to assist with rescue efforts.

One individual was pronounced dead at the scene, and a second person was transported to a local hospital in unknown condition. CHP has not confirmed which vehicle the fatality occurred in or whether the person trapped was the one who died.

The circumstances leading up to the crash remain under investigation. CHP did not confirm reports suggesting the crash may have involved a wrong-way maneuver, though a sedan was possibly traveling in the wrong direction before colliding with a Toyota RAV4 SUV.

Sierra Highway was closed for several hours while investigators worked to clear the scene and determine the cause of the crash.
