A woman was fatally struck by a car while attempting to walk across Highway 101 in San Jose early Friday morning, December 5, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, officers responded at 1:16 a.m. to northbound Highway 101 north of San Antonio Street and found the pedestrian, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
CHP said a 24-year-old San Jose man driving a 2017 Infiniti was traveling northbound when the woman stepped into his lane from the left. The driver attempted to avoid the collision but struck her.
Authorities stated that the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the officers. Alcohol and drugs were not considered factors.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
