A woman was killed after being struck by a vehicle on East Date Avenue near South Park Street in Porterville on Saturday evening, November 15, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident was reported around 6:07 p.m. when a 53-year-old woman from Porterville was walking eastbound on East Date Avenue and was struck by a 2005 Honda Accord driven by a 51-year-old Porterville man.
CHP said the driver fled the scene, and the woman died at the location. Officers pursued multiple leads, conducted follow-up investigations, and canvassed the surrounding area. CHP stated that cooperation from the Porterville community contributed to locating and arresting the suspected driver on Thursday.
The 51-year-old man was booked into the Tulare County Detention Facility. Authorities have not released the names of the victim or the suspect.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
