[11-23-2025] El Dorado County, CA – One Person Killed and Several Injured After Trailer Overturns and Collides with Jeep on US50

[11-23-2025] One Person Killed and Several Injured After Trailer Overturns and Collides with Jeep on US50One person was killed, and several others were injured after a trailer being towed by a Ford F-250 overturned and collided with a Jeep Compass on US50 just east of Camp Sacramento on Sunday evening, November 23, 2025.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 7:17 p.m. when the westbound Ford F-250, which was towing a 32-foot fifth-wheel travel trailer, reportedly entered a curve at an unsafe speed. CHP said the driver lost control, causing the trailer to flip, cross the centerline, and move into the path of an eastbound Jeep Compass. The left side and top of the overturned trailer struck the front of the Jeep, resulting in major damage to both vehicles.

CHP reported that the 18-year-old right front passenger of the Jeep died at the scene. The Jeep contained five occupants from Woodland: a 37-year-old driver and four children, ages 18, 16, 13, and 6. The driver and the 13-year-old sustained minor injuries, the 16-year-old had major injuries, and the 6-year-old suffered moderate injuries.

All surviving occupants were transported to Barton Memorial in South Lake Tahoe. The 32-year-old Lathrop man driving the Ford was not injured. Authorities are withholding the deceased victim’s name pending notification of next of kin.

CHP said the cause of the collision and the sequence of events remain under investigation.

Don’t Know What To Do After An Accident?

Your safety and rights depend on what you do next after an accident. Remember the following steps if you find yourself in one:

  • Check yourself for any injuries.
  • Stay on the scene, call 9-1-1, and wait for emergency responders.
  • Move your vehicle to the road shoulder if safe; turn on hazard lights.
  • Fully cooperate with law enforcement and stay until cleared to leave.
  • Document the scene and injuries with photos and videos.
  • Seek immediate medical attention.
  • Contact your insurance company and find a personal injury lawyer for legal advice.

What A Lawyer Can Do For You

Many victims put off calling a lawyer even if they sustain injuries after an accident. However, lawyers can help you in many ways. They can provide you with police reports, CCTV footage, and witness statements to strengthen your case. Your attorney will also negotiate with insurance companies to get you fair compensation. The best part is that they will do all of these things for you at no upfront cost. So if you’re injured in an accident, hire a personal injury attorney to recover medical bills, car repair costs, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
