A pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle in Antioch on Wednesday night, November 19, 2025. Police arrested a suspect on suspicion of felony hit-and-run.
The collision occurred at the intersection of A Street and W. 18th Street around 6:15 p.m. A 64-year-old man died from his injuries on Friday at a hospital. Capt. Matthew Koch said officers found the man in the roadway and provided medical care until Contra Costa County Fire Protection District personnel arrived and transported him by ambulance. The vehicle that struck the man had left the scene before officers arrived.
Witnesses provided a description and license plate numbers, leading officers to locate the vehicle in the 4400 block of Deerfield Drive. Police later found the suspected driver and took him into custody. He was booked into the Martinez Detention Facility, though his name was not listed in jail records on Friday afternoon.
Koch said police do not believe alcohol or speeding were factors in the collision. The identity of the victim was not immediately released pending notification of relatives. Authorities continue to investigate the crash.

What A Lawyer Can Do For You
Many victims put off calling a lawyer even if they sustain injuries after an accident. However, lawyers can help you in many ways. They can provide you with police reports, CCTV footage, and witness statements to strengthen your case. Your attorney will also negotiate with insurance companies to get you fair compensation. The best part is that they will do all of these things for you at no upfront cost. So if you’re injured in an accident, hire a personal injury attorney to recover medical bills, car repair costs, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
