A 36-year-old man from San Lorenzo was seriously injured after his GMC pickup crashed on I-5 southbound near Willows in Glenn County on Saturday evening, October 11, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Alejandro M. was driving a 2016 GMC pickup at over 70 mph when he reportedly fell asleep. The truck veered off the road, struck a metal light pole, and lost a tire, which flew into the windshield of a nearby 2002 Nissan driven by 22-year-old Keenan M. of Santa Cruz. Keenan was unharmed and safely pulled over.
The GMC continued out of control, hitting a palm tree before coming to a stop. Alejandro was trapped inside and had to be freed by the Willows Fire Department using extraction tools. He was airlifted to Enloe Medical Center in Chico with major injuries.
Authorities continue to investigate the crash.
