A 37-year-old man from San Jose was killed when the motorcycle he was riding struck the back of a crashed car on northbound State Route 17 in Scotts Valley on Sunday morning, September 14, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, officers responded around 5:20 a.m. near Santas Village Road after reports of a collision.
A gray Nissan 370Z had left the roadway and crashed into a sign, then collided with a call box before coming to rest in the left lane. The motorcyclist, riding a black 2025 Yamaha northbound behind the Nissan, collided with the vehicle and was ejected onto the roadway. Emergency responders provided aid, but the motorcyclist died of his injuries.
The identities of the motorcyclist and the Nissan driver have not been released. Authorities continue to investigate the collision.
