A man was injured in a multi-vehicle crash on South Mission Road near Hellers Bend in San Diego County, Saturday night, September 6, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash was first reported at 9:09 p.m. in the northbound lanes.
Early reports indicated a single vehicle, but dispatchers later confirmed that two to three cars were involved. Witnesses reported that both drivers fled the scene and that DUI was suspected.
Authorities said one vehicle was sideways in the roadway, another off the road, and approximately forty feet of guardrail was damaged during the collision. North County Fire Protection District medics transported one injured man to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido and later diverted him to Scripps Memorial Hospital. The severity of his injuries has not been released.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
