A man was killed after being struck by a vehicle while riding a scooter in Long Beach on Monday morning, September 1, 2025.
According to the Long Beach Police Department, officers were dispatched around 3:20 a.m. to the area of Seventh Street and Federation Drive near Recreation Park.
Responding personnel found an unconscious man in the roadway, who was transported to a hospital but later died from his injuries.
Police reported that the victim was riding southbound on a scooter outside a marked crosswalk when he was struck by a 2016 Hyundai Accent driven by a 28-year-old Laguna Beach resident traveling eastbound on Seventh Street. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.
The department stated that speed, distracted driving, and impaired driving do not appear to have been factors in the collision.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
