Commuters experienced traffic delays Thursday morning on westbound State Route 44 near Auditorium Drive in Redding due to two separate collisions, August 28, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the first crash occurred around 8:07 a.m. and involved at least two vehicles, including a red sedan and a white sedan.
One vehicle leaked an unknown fluid, forcing drivers to pass on the right shoulder while lanes were blocked. Emergency responders arrived promptly, and by 8:26 a.m., one lane had reopened.
A second collision was reported at approximately 8:47 a.m. on the bridge over the Sacramento River. Both vehicles were moved to the right shoulder, and tow services were called to clear the scene.
No injuries were reported in either incident. Authorities continue to monitor traffic and investigate the collisions.
