[08-17-2025] 75-Year-Old Man Dies After Being Struck by Vehicle on Derby Street Near Willard Park in BerkeleyA 75-year-old man from Berkeley has died after being struck by a vehicle in a low-speed collision on Derby Street near Willard Park in Alameda County, on Sunday, August 17, 2025.

According to the Berkeley Police Department, the incident occurred at approximately 6:45 p.m. The pedestrian, Dinh L., was walking south to cross Derby Street when a 58-year-old Santa Clara man driving a gray 2010 Acura MDX struck him. The collision occurred at an estimated speed of 10 mph.

The pedestrian sustained abrasions and cuts and was transported to Highland Hospital, where he later died on Sunday, August 24, 2025. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

Police confirmed that excess speed did not appear to be a factor, and the investigation into the collision remains ongoing.
