A 14-year-old boy was killed in a crash involving an e-Bike and a pickup truck in Imperial County on Friday evening, August 22, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred on Aten Road near Silsbee Road as the boy was riding westbound on an e-bike.
A 17-year-old male driving a pickup truck was heading eastbound on Aten Road when the two collided.
Authorities said the impact threw the boy from the e-Bike. He was transported to El Centro Regional Medical Center, where he died from his injuries. The CHP noted that the boy had been wearing a bicycle helmet at the time of the crash.
The 17-year-old pickup driver was not injured. Officials added that impairment does not appear to have been a factor in the crash.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
