[12-31-2025] San Bernardino County, CA – Pedestrian Killed After Being Struck by Big Rig on 40 Freeway in Barstow

A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a big rig in Barstow on Wednesday night, December 31, 2025.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision was first reported shortly before 9:15 p.m. on the eastbound 40 Freeway just east of the 15 Freeway.

CHP logs indicated that the pedestrian appeared to be lying in the roadway when the big rig struck them. Paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the pedestrian dead. San Bernardino County coroner officials were also called to respond.

Authorities said one of the two eastbound lanes remained closed as the investigation continued into the early morning hours Thursday.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
