A four-vehicle collision forced lane closures on the westbound Pomona (60) Freeway near Rubidoux Boulevard in Jurupa Valley on Tuesday morning, December 30, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash was reported around 8:29 a.m. just east of Rubidoux Boulevard.
CHP said a tow truck driver attempted to make an emergency stop in the slow lane to retrieve a disabled vehicle and struck a tractor-trailer. The impact caused a Subaru SUV and a Honda Civic to collide near the tow truck, scattering debris across all westbound lanes. The front end of the tow truck, which was transporting two vehicles, became lodged beneath the semi, though the tow truck driver was able to self-extricate.
Authorities said all westbound lanes were initially blocked, though the HOV and fast lanes were reopened shortly afterward. Several people involved reported minor injuries but declined hospital transport. CHP added that debris from the collision struck additional vehicles, causing damage but no reported injuries.
As of 11:00 a.m., crews continued working to free the tow truck, requiring the closure of the westbound slow lane.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
