A husband and wife were killed in a head-on crash involving a suspected DUI driver on Highway 145 south of Ford Avenue near Coalinga in Fresno County on Monday evening, December 29, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred just before 7:30 p.m. when a vehicle traveling southbound on Highway 145 veered into the northbound lane while attempting to pass two other cars.
Authorities said the vehicle collided head-on with a Hyundai occupied by 69-year-old Carlos P. and his 62-year-old wife, Maria, both residents of Coalinga. The couple was pronounced dead at the scene.
CHP reported that the driver of the other vehicle, identified as 30-year-old Shawn B. of Riverside, sustained minor injuries. Officers said Shawn was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and faces multiple felony charges, including manslaughter.
The investigation is ongoing.
