[12-28-2024] Fresno County, CA – Two Killed, Five Injured After Head-On Collision on Highway 99

[12-28-2024] Two Killed, Five Injured After Head-On Collision on Highway 99Two people were killed, and five others sustained injuries in a head-on collision involving three vehicles on Highway 99 in Fresno on Saturday morning, December 28, 2024.

The California Highway Patrol reported that the crash occurred around 7:15 a.m. just south of Shaw Avenue. 

A Lexus ES300 driven by 64-year-old Paul W. of Fresno was traveling the wrong way in the southbound lanes when it collided head-on with a Ford F-150 driven by 73-year-old Mariana T. of Selma.

Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene. CHP confirmed that the Lexus driver was not wearing a seatbelt, while the Ford driver was but did not survive the crash.

A third vehicle, driven by a 26-year-old man, was also involved. The driver was treated at the scene and released.

Five passengers in the Ford F-150 sustained moderate to major injuries and were transported to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Authorities are investigating the incident to determine if alcohol or drugs were factors. The investigation is ongoing.
