A 27-year-old man died following a two-vehicle crash on Avenue 7 1/2 near Road 9 in Madera County early Tuesday morning, December 23, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred just after 5:00 a.m. when the man was driving eastbound in a Dodge on Avenue 7 1/2 and veered into the path of an oncoming Chevrolet.
CHP said the driver of the Chevrolet attempted to swerve to avoid the collision but was still struck by the left side of the Dodge. After the impact, the Dodge traveled onto the shoulder, hit a power pole, and overturned. Officers said the driver was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle.
The man was transported to a hospital, where he later died. CHP reported that the driver of the Chevrolet suffered minor injuries. Investigators said they are still determining whether drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.
