A bicyclist died after being struck by a vehicle in Citrus Heights on Monday night, December 23, 2024.
According to the Citrus Heights Police Department, the collision occurred around 9:45 p.m. on Van Maren Road near Mercedes Avenue.
Officers arriving at the scene found the injured bicyclist lying in the roadway. The individual was transported to a hospital but later succumbed to their injuries.
The driver involved in the collision remained at the scene and is cooperating with authorities. Police stated that drugs or alcohol may have contributed to the crash.
