A vehicle slid into a canal near Highway 115 and Norrish Road in Holtville on Thursday evening, December 19, 2024.
According to the Imperial County Sheriff’s Office, the incident prompted a multi-agency response.
Upon arrival, officials called in a dive team to assist in the rescue. Firefighters and deputies entered the canal to check the condition of the passengers, who were found to be conscious.
The dive team successfully rescued the passengers, who were then transported to El Centro Regional Medical Center for examination and treatment. The vehicle was removed from the canal later that night.
Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
