A 65-year-old woman identified as Carmen N. of Salinas was killed after being struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Main Street and Hardin Parkway in Monterey County on Sunday evening, December 7, 2025.
According to witnesses, the collision occurred around 6 p.m. as the woman was running across the street when she was hit and thrown an estimated 30 to 45 feet.
Bystanders and an officer performed CPR until paramedics arrived. She was transported to a hospital by ambulance, where she was later pronounced dead. The Monterey County Coroner’s Office confirmed her identity on Monday.
The Salinas Union High School District said Nava worked at Washington Middle School as part of the campus safety team and was preparing to retire in December. Officials described her as well-loved by students and staff.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
