A man was killed, and a woman was injured in a crash on Highway 62 between Desert Hot Springs and Morongo Valley on Wednesday morning, December 4, 2024.
According to Officer David Torres of the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred around 11:30 a.m. on westbound Highway 62 at Indian Canyon Drive.
The man, a Twentynine Palms resident born in 1955, was driving a Toyota Yaris that crashed into the rear of a Lincoln SUV carrying four occupants. The driver of the Toyota Yaris was pronounced dead at the scene.
The woman injured in the crash was seated in the left rear passenger seat of the Lincoln SUV. She complained of pain but did not require hospitalization.
Authorities do not suspect drugs or alcohol as factors in the collision, but the investigation remains ongoing.
