A 22-year-old man was arrested in Beverly Hills after he stole a car and crashed into four bystanders, injuring them near the city’s annual holiday tree-lighting event on Thursday evening, November 14, 2024.
The incident occurred just after 7:00 p.m. near Wilshire Boulevard and Camden Drive, a block away from the Rodeo Drive Holiday Lighting Celebration.
According to the Beverly Hills Police Department, a black car was speeding and swerved before losing control, striking a group of people.
The crash injured two men, one woman, and a boy. All four victims were taken to local hospitals, and their conditions were unknown at the time of the report.
Officers soon responded to the collision and tracked down the suspect, identified as James P. from Pennsylvania, in the 200 block of South Beverly Drive. The suspect is believed to have lost control of the car, crashed it, and fled.
