[11-09-2025] Los Angeles County, CA – 61-Year-Old Man Killed in Multi-Vehicle Crash Near Templin Highway; DUI Suspect Arrested

[11-09-2025] 61-Year-Old Man Killed in Multi-Vehicle Crash Near Templin Highway; DUI Suspect ArrestedA 61-year-old man was killed in a multi-vehicle crash in the northbound lanes near Templin Highway late Sunday night, November 9, 2025.

California Highway Patrol officers with the Newhall-area Office responded at 11:10 p.m. to reports of a collision north of Templin Highway. L.A. County Fire Department officials said Fire Station 149 on Ridge Route Road in Castaic was contacted at 11:12 p.m. and arrived on scene by 11:29 p.m.

CHP officers found the driver of a white Jeep Cherokee, who had been ejected and sustained fatal injuries. The victim was identified as a 61-year-old man, with his name withheld pending notification of next of kin, according to CHP spokesman Carlos Burgos-Lopez.

Based on the preliminary investigation, officers determined that Martin Enrique Cazares, 21, of Wasco, was the at-fault driver who was driving under the influence. Cazares was arrested shortly after 3 a.m. Monday at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station on suspicion of felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter. Speed is considered a contributing factor.

Cazares was released on $100,000 bail the same day, according to L.A. County Sheriff’s Department custody records. A court hearing is scheduled for December 4 at the L.A. County Superior Court in San Fernando.

The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation.

Don’t Know What To Do After An Accident?

Your safety and rights depend on what you do next after an accident. Remember the following steps if you find yourself in one:

  • Check yourself for any injuries.
  • Stay on the scene, call 9-1-1, and wait for emergency responders.
  • Move your vehicle to the road shoulder if safe; turn on hazard lights.
  • Fully cooperate with law enforcement and stay until cleared to leave.
  • Document the scene and injuries with photos and videos.
  • Seek immediate medical attention.
  • Contact your insurance company and find a personal injury lawyer for legal advice.

What A Lawyer Can Do For You

Many victims put off calling a lawyer even if they sustain injuries after an accident. However, lawyers can help you in many ways. They can provide you with police reports, CCTV footage, and witness statements to strengthen your case. Your attorney will also negotiate with insurance companies to get you fair compensation. The best part is that they will do all of these things for you at no upfront cost. So if you’re injured in an accident, hire a personal injury attorney to recover medical bills, car repair costs, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
