[11-09-2024] Four Rescued After Jeep Goes Off Road in Whiskeytown National Recreation AreaFour people were rescued after their jeep went down an embankment off a dirt road in the Whiskeytown National Recreation Area in Shasta County on Saturday afternoon, November 9, 2024.

The incident occurred on a dirt road off John F. Kennedy Memorial Drive, heading toward Brandy Creek. The group was traveling alongside another jeep, but when they lost contact with the second vehicle, they returned to search for their friends. They found the jeep down the embankment.

The California Highway Patrol reports that the jeep, which had a driver and three passengers, veered off the road, causing moderate injuries, including head lacerations. 

One person was transported by ground ambulance, while three others were airlifted to local hospitals for treatment.

CHP Sgt. Potter noted that the jeep had simply gotten “too close to the edge” of the road. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
