A woman was killed in a crash on the San Diego (405) Freeway in Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles, early Saturday morning, November 1, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 3:30 a.m. on the northbound 405 Freeway south of Burbank Boulevard near the Ventura (101) Freeway.
The preliminary investigation determined that a Mazda sedan was involved in a solo crash and became disabled in lanes facing the wrong direction. A Ford SUV then sideswiped the Mazda, and a Toyota SUV struck the sedan head-on.
The driver of the Mazda was pronounced dead at the scene. She was identified by the County of Los Angeles Medical Examiner as 33-year-old Brittany A.. Her city of residence was not available.
The driver of the Toyota, identified as 37-year-old Mayra S. of Granada Hills, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, according to the CHP.
The crash remains under investigation.
