Two people lost their lives in a wrong-way crash following a police pursuit in Pomona on Friday evening, October 4, 2024.
The incident occurred around 5:45 p.m. on the Interstate 10 Freeway near Kellogg Drive as suspects in a BMW X6 attempted to evade officers, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The suspects were traveling the wrong way when the driver lost control, causing the car to veer off the road and hit a dirt berm. The impact ejected two occupants, 34-year-old Joey G. and 38-year-old Jose C., both of whom were pronounced dead at the scene.
The vehicle reportedly rolled multiple times before landing on top of the ejected individuals. The driver, 30-year-old Erick Daniel B. of Montclair, was apprehended after trying to flee on foot. A fourth occupant, a 45-year-old man, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was hospitalized.
