[09-26-2026] Orange County, CA – Woman Killed, Man Critically Injured in Fiery SUV Crash in Garden Grove

A woman was killed, and a man suffered life-threatening injuries after their SUV struck a utility pole and caught fire in Garden Grove early Saturday morning, September 26, 2026.

According to the Garden Grove Police Department, the incident was reported at around 2:55 a.m. at Knott Street and Acacia Avenue.

Police said a white 2007 Toyota Highlander struck a utility pole at the southeast corner of the intersection and caught fire. The male driver and female passenger were both unconscious when officers arrived.

Officers removed both occupants from the SUV and began life-saving measures before Orange County Fire Authority personnel took over medical care.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity was not immediately released. The driver was transported to UCI Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

The Garden Grove Police Department’s Neighborhood Traffic Unit continues to investigate the cause of the crash.
