[09-25-2026] Alameda County, CA – UC Berkeley Student Critically Injured After Being Struck By Vehicle in Berkeley

A 20-year-old UC Berkeley student was critically injured after being struck by a vehicle while crossing Telegraph Avenue in Berkeley on Friday night, September 25, 2026.

According to the Berkeley Police Department, officers responded to the incident at around 10:09 p.m. at Telegraph Avenue and Carleton Street.

Police said the student was crossing Telegraph Avenue when a southbound vehicle driven by a 64-year-old Oakland woman struck him.

The pedestrian was transported to a local trauma hospital in critical but stable condition.

The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. Police said alcohol and drugs did not appear to be factors in the collision.

Due to the severity of the crash, the Berkeley Police Department’s Fatal Accident Investigation Team is handling the investigation.
