[09-24-2024] Motorcyclist Killed After Collision With Vehicle Near NipomoA motorcyclist identified as 37-year-old Levi L. was killed in a crash near Nipomo, San Luis Obispo County, on Tuesday afternoon, September 24, 2024.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at approximately 4:15 p.m. in the area of Hutton Road and Joshua Street. 

Authorities stated that a Nissan pickup was traveling southbound on Hutton Road when the driver made a U-turn directly in front of a Harley-Davidson motorcycle heading northbound. The motorcycle struck the passenger side of the truck, causing the rider to be ejected.

Following the crash, the occupants of the truck fled the scene but were quickly apprehended by an off-duty CHP officer. The motorcyclist died at the scene. He was wearing safety gear at the time of the collision.

The driver who attempted to flee has been identified as 36-year-old Genaro B. of Bakersfield.  Drugs or alcohol are not suspected to be factors in the accident.

The investigation is ongoing.
