[09-22-2024] Two People Involving Pedestrian Killed After DUI Crash in SeasideTwo people involving a pedestrian were killed after a DUI crash in Seaside on Sunday night, September 22, 2024.

According to police, a vehicle traveling at 100 miles per hour on Del Monte Boulevard drove onto the island at Del Monte and Fremont, striking a pedestrian who was on the island.

The driver was ejected from the car after it continued onto Fremont, crashing through a raised partition for the left turn lane and overturning.

The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office identified the driver as 19-year-old Leon T. of Watsonville.  The deceased pedestrian was identified as 40-year-old Daniel L. of Monterey County.

Police stated that the vehicle had multiple occupants from Watsonville, all of whom were under the influence of alcohol. Investigators also noted that the driver had a suspended license and was on DUI probation.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
