[09-20-2026] Santa Clara County, CA – One Killed, Driver Injured in Highway 101 Crash in San Jose

A 19-year-old man was killed, and another 19-year-old man suffered major injuries in a crash on Highway 101 in San Jose early Sunday morning, September 20, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at around 2:06 a.m. on northbound Highway 101 at Yerba Buena Road.

CHP’s preliminary investigation indicated that a 19-year-old San Mateo man was driving a 2013 Ford Fusion northbound when he lost control of the vehicle

A 19-year-old passenger from Fairfield was ejected from the vehicle and died from his injuries. The driver sustained major injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment.

CHP said it has not yet determined whether alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash.

The investigation remains ongoing.
