A driver was arrested for hit-and-run after striking a mother near Rosa Parks Elementary in West Berkeley on Friday afternoon, September 19, 2025.
According to Berkeley Police Department, the driver ran a stop sign and struck the pedestrian at Addison and 10th streets while she was on her way to get her children. No injuries were reported, but the impact deployed airbags and caused moderate vehicle damage.
The suspect, identified as 35-year-old Malcolm T. of San Francisco, initially fled the scene and later ran into a Jack in the Box before being apprehended. Police also found a large quantity of drugs in his vehicle during the ongoing investigation. Malcolm was charged with hit-and-run driving and drug sales, including possession for sale of MDMA, while out on bail.
The investigation is ongoing.
