[09-11-2025] Two People Killed, One Injured in Three-Vehicle Crash on Highway 183 in SalinasTwo passengers were killed and the driver of a sedan sustained major injuries in a three-vehicle collision on Highway 183, south of Cooper Road in Salinas, on Thursday afternoon, September 11, 2025.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 4:47 p.m. A red sedan waiting to make a left turn was rear-ended by a gray GMC SUV, which pushed the sedan into the path of an oncoming northbound semi-truck. The semi-truck then collided with the sedan.

The two passengers inside the red sedan were pronounced deceased at the scene. Authorities identified them as 31-year-old Aristeo J. of Port Hueneme and 35-year-old Marcos A. of Salinas. The 20-year-old driver of the sedan was transported to a hospital with major injuries.

CHP reported that the GMC SUV driver, a 19-year-old woman from Salinas, initially fled the scene but was later located. Drugs and alcohol are not suspected to be factors in the crash. Authorities continue to investigate the collision, including whether any charges will be filed.
