A 3-year-old girl was killed after being struck by a vehicle backing in a driveway on Point Pleasant Road south of Elk Grove on Sunday afternoon, September 7, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 3:40 p.m. when a 29-year-old woman was backing her Nissan.
A 33-year-old man and the girl were standing behind the vehicle when the collision occurred. Family members reported the incident to 911, and Cosumnes Fire Department personnel attempted lifesaving measures on the child.
The girl was transported to a hospital but was pronounced dead at 4:29 p.m. CHP stated that alcohol and drugs do not appear to have been a factor in the crash. No arrests have been made, and the victim’s identity has not been released.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
