[09-05-2025] Santa Barbara County, CA – Passenger Killed, Driver Arrested for DUI After Collision at State Route 246 and Domingos Road

A passenger was killed and the driver arrested for driving under the influence after a Tesla Model S collided with a Ford F-150 at the intersection of State Route 246 and Domingos Road in Santa Barbara County on Friday evening, September 5, 2025.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred just before 7:00 p.m. when the Tesla, driven by a 46-year-old North Hills man, entered the intersection and was struck by a westbound Ford F-150. The passenger of the Tesla sustained fatal injuries and was declared dead at the scene. The driver of the Ford F-150, a 57-year-old Lompoc man, suffered minor injuries and was transported to a hospital.

The driver of the Tesla was transported by ambulance with major injuries. CHP investigators determined that he was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.

The identity of the passenger is pending notification of their next of kin. The incident remains under investigation.
