A motorist stopping to rescue a kitten on the Riverside (91) Freeway caused a three-vehicle crash that left one person injured in Riverside County on Wednesday afternoon, September 4, 2024.
The California Highway Patrol reported that the incident occurred at around 12:40 p.m. on the westbound 91 Freeway near Madison Street.
A sedan driver stopped in the fast lane to retrieve a kitten crossing the road, resulting in a chain-reaction collision. Another motorist stopped behind the sedan, but a third vehicle failed to stop and collided with both cars.
Riverside Fire Department crews responded to the scene, where one person was found with minor injuries and taken to Riverside Community Hospital. The kitten was safely rescued and unharmed.
The crash is under investigation, and there is no additional information immediately available.
