[09-01-2024] 81-Year-Old Pedestrian Killed After Hit-And-Run Crash on Jamacha Road in Rancho San DiegoAn 81-year-old man was killed after being struck by a vehicle while crossing the street in Rancho San Diego on Sunday morning, September 1, 2024.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 11:00 a.m. as the victim was crossing west on Jamacha Road/State Route 54 near the intersection with Brabham Street.

The suspect, driving a mid-2000s Toyota Corolla with faded gold paint, was making a right turn onto northbound Jamacha Road/SR-54 when he failed to yield and struck the pedestrian. 

The driver fled the scene, heading northbound on Jamacha Road/SR-54. He is described as a bald man, approximately 5’5 tall, and weighing between 150 and 180 pounds.

The victim was transported to Sharp Memorial Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

The CHP is investigating the crash and urges anyone with information to contact the CHP El Cajon office.
