[08-26-2024] One Killed, Another Injured After Head-On Collision Involving Two Big-Rigs in HollisterOne person was killed, and another was injured after a head-on collision involving two big-rigs in Hollister on Monday morning, August 26, 2024. 

The California Highway Patrol reported that the crash happened around 9:56 a.m., resulting in the temporary closure of the highway between Bolsa Road and Shore Road.

Preliminary reports indicate that a 70-year-old man from San Jose was driving a 2017 Freightliner Cascadia northbound at approximately 60 mph when he crossed the double solid yellow line into the southbound lane. The Freightliner collided head-on with a 2022 Mack Anthem, driven by a 68-year-old man.

The Freightliner driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from his vehicle and suffered major injuries. He was transported to Santa Clara Medical Center for treatment. Tragically, the driver of the Mack truck died from his injuries at the scene.

The CHP stated that drugs and alcohol were not factors in the crash. There is no additional information immediately available.
