A 19-year-old Watsonville man was killed in a crash involving a pickup truck in Monterey County on Saturday afternoon, August 23, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at about 2:43 p.m. on Hudson Landing Road, south of Wells Road.
Authorities said a red Toyota pickup, driven by an unknown person, veered off the road for unknown reasons, struck a power pole, and overturned. The passenger was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver fled the scene prior to the arrival of officers. CHP stated that it is not yet known whether drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.
Authorities continue to investigate the crash.
