A 23-year-old driver was killed, and another was injured after a head-on collision involving a classic 1966 Chrysler Newport east of Aptos, Santa Cruz County on Saturday morning, August 17, 2024.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 7:35 a.m. on Freedom Boulevard, east of McDonald Road.
The Chrysler Newport was traveling westbound on Freedom Boulevard when it collided with an eastbound 2017 Honda CRV. The driver of the Chrysler was pronounced dead at the scene. The 49-year-old driver of the Honda sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
The cause of the crash is under investigation. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs were factors.
