A woman died after being struck by a vehicle in Santa Maria on Sunday night, August 9, 2026.
According to the Santa Maria Police Department, the incident occurred shortly after 8:30 p.m. near the 100 block of West Battles Road.
Santa Maria Fire Department crews and AMR personnel provided lifesaving measures before transporting the pedestrian to a hospital in critical condition, but she died from her injuries several hours later.
Authorities have not released the woman’s identity pending notification of next of kin. Police said DUI is not suspected to be a factor in the incident.
The investigation remains ongoing.
