[08-08-2026] Fresno County, CA – Two Drivers Injured After Fuel Tanker Catches Fire in Highway 99 Crash in Selma.webpTwo drivers suffered minor injuries after a fuel tanker and a box truck collided on Highway 99 in Selma, Fresno County, on Saturday morning, August 8, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred shortly before 9 a.m. after a box truck with a flat tire pulled onto the shoulder of Highway 99.

Officials said the driver had been waiting for assistance for about 10 minutes when a Peterbilt fuel tanker drifted onto the shoulder and struck the box truck.

The collision sparked a fire that engulfed the tanker, which was carrying approximately 8,600 gallons of fuel. Both drivers were able to exit their vehicles and sustained injuries.

Selma and Cal Fire crews responded and worked to prevent the fire from spreading to a nearby neighborhood.

The crash and fire prompted a lengthy closure of Highway 99 while emergency crews worked at the scene.

The CHP continues to investigate the collision.

What A Lawyer Can Do For You

Many victims put off calling a lawyer even if they sustain injuries after an accident. However, lawyers can help you in many ways. They can provide you with police reports, CCTV footage, and witness statements to strengthen your case. Your attorney will also negotiate with insurance companies to get you fair compensation. The best part is that they will do all of these things for you at no upfront cost. So if you’re injured in an accident, hire a personal injury attorney to recover medical bills, car repair costs, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
