[08-08-2024] 56-Year-Old Woman Killed After Dog Bite Accident Near Feather FallsA 56 -year-old woman was killed after a dog bite accident in Butte County on Thursday, August 8, 2024.

According to the Butte County Sheriff’s Office, a resident contacted the sheriff’s office around 2:00 a.m. to report finding a body along Blackhawk Trail near the Feather Falls area.

Deputies responded to the scene and identified the deceased as 56-year-old Davina C. of Feather Falls. Preliminary evidence suggests that the victim was walking when a pack of dogs attacked her.

An autopsy was conducted later on Thursday by a forensic pathologist, who found numerous bite marks and injuries on Davina C.’s body. Based on these findings, the pathologist determined that an attack by domestic dogs caused Davina C.’s death.

During the investigation, detectives obtained a search warrant for a home on Blackhawk Trail, located directly in front of the area where the victim was found. At the residence, detectives discovered approximately 25 Great Dane dogs. Butte County Animal Control was called to assist, and deputies and detectives spent the entire day capturing the dogs running loose in the area.

Currently, 23 dogs have been captured and turned over to animal control, and efforts are ongoing to locate and capture the two remaining dogs.

The California Department of Fish and Wildlife conducted DNA analysis on Corbin’s clothing, confirming the presence of DNA consistent with domestic dogs. Further testing is being conducted to determine which specific dogs were involved in the attack.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with relevant information to come forward and call them at (530) 538-7671.
