One person suffered major injuries in a crash near Cayucos in San Luis Obispo County on Tuesday afternoon, August 4, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash was reported around 2 p.m. on Old Creek Road, north of Whale Rock Reservoir.
A silver pickup truck towing a 15,000-pound camper left the roadway and came to rest on its wheels approximately 60 feet down a 25-foot embankment.
Authorities classified the incident as a major injury collision, although it has not been confirmed who was injured. An ambulance and a tow truck responded to the scene, and the roadway was temporarily blocked while fire and medical personnel assisted with the emergency.
The CHP continues to investigate the cause of the crash.
